Old School Finisher That Gets You Ripped Without Cardio

This is a ripped without cardio blog post by Grant Lofthouse

ripped without cardioHey hope you are fit n’ well,

If you have been following me for a while you would know that I’m obsessed with Seinfeld. And today I watched one of my favourite episodes ‘The Jimmy’.

In one of the scenes Jimmy is mindlessly pumping away on a stair climber. Now whilst I was laughing at Jimmy for always talking as the 3rd person “Jimmy’s got some moves”. Something hit me…

Nothing has changed from 20 years ago, people are still looking to the cardio machines (treadmill, bike, cross trainer, stair climber) as their answer to losing body fat and getting ripped without cardio.

I have given up on these kinds of people, that’s why I started this blog. So I don’t have to tell any of my readers to stop following Jimmy’s ways. I’m just over it, these people will never change. It’s like trying to convert a power lifter over to bodybuilding and vice versa… it just won’t happen.

Now because this blog is for cardio haters and it’s safe enough to say that Seinfeld is pretty old school. I’m going to combine the two and give you and old school finisher that doesn’t involve the treadmill, bike, cross trainer or stair climber…

Skipping.

Skipping is by far one of the oldest and best finishers going around. It’s easy on the joints, it improves coordination, reaction time with the ground and conditioning – which is good news if you’re an athlete.

Also, when you are doing a lot of weight training sometimes your joints won’t like most of the finishers that usually involve jumping. Yes I do realize that skipping involves jumping but it’s a lot easier on the joints when you only jump 1-2 inches off the ground as apposed 30+ inches like in squat jumps or a box jump.

Even myself, I have to do the lowest impact finishers possible because of my knee. So for me it’s usually battling ropes, skipping, kettlebell swings and some other low impact dill like medicine ball slams.

Skipping Sets & Reps to Get You Ripped Without Cardio

Skipping is also a great alternative to fasted morning walks, which I also recommend if you want to lose body fat and get ripped without cardio.

Instead of 5-7 30 minute walks on an empty stomach before breakfast. You could alternate days of 30 minute fasted morning walks with 5 x 3 minute rounds of skipping.

If you want to save your skipping till the end of your weight training session like a true traditional metabolic finisher. 30 seconds easy/ 30 seconds hard for 5-10 minutes works really well.

But at the end of the day if I could only do one finisher to get ripped without cardio it would definitely by skipping and I’m sure every boxer in the world would have my back on that decision.

By all means you can lose body fat and get ripped without cardio purely through hard-core dieting and weight training.

But you will also probably be blowing hard after climbing a few steps, and that just doesn’t look good or feel good either.

So head down to the shed and find that dusty old skipping rope you used to use when you were a kid and start having some fun and skip, just like old times.
